I think it was judged by manual inspection and then banned
They received 1000's user submitted reports on a daily basis. PubgMobile has about 60-80 million daily active users. I think manual intervention is very resource hungry. However, I do think they use their own inhouse AI that looks for modified/cracked pubg clients and issue bans that way. For example. In the lobby, there is a icon at the upper left side of your screen that shows Ban. The List of players banned is placed into 6 different categories:
I list them below, followed by my own comment on how they detect this:
File modifiction => Custom In-house Artificial Intelligent (AI) program that uses machine learning. Why? a spectator cannot tell if your pubg client was modified
Skipping matchmaking detection => Custom In-house Artificial Intelligent (AI) program that uses machine learning. Why? a spectator cannot tell if skipped macthmaking system
Using cheats => Maybe by user reports, but takes a lot of manual user intervention to follow up on each claim. Maybe a combination of AI and user intervention, where when a suspected player gets flagged by more than x amount of players in 1 match, the AI will prioritise this report for further investigation.
Using plug-ins => Custom In-house Artificial Intelligent (AI) program that uses machine learning. Why? a spectator cannot tell if you are using a plugin
Group with cheaters => This I believe is the result of the 3rd category, so, they see if the cheater and those playing with him have played before.
Again, my own assumptions, I might be very wrong. But, consider the fact that there are many playing very brutal, with kills over 15 per match and they still play. This might be because they are using a JB device and are harder to detect.
